IPL 2021: Dwayne Bravo flexes his muscles with two huge sixes, Deepak Chahar enjoys with a whistle
Dwayne Bravo's cameo of 23 runs had three sixes which helped CSK finish on 156 for 6.
Dwayne Bravo has been a regular feature in the Chennai Super Kings team for a decade now. For most of these years, mainly towards the latter part of his career, Bravo has played like a proper bowler. However, whenever he is not able to deliver with the ball, his batting is enough at times to get him selected in the team.
Recently in the Caribbean Premier League, during his triumphant run with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, he played the last five matches purely as a batter and contributed in important phases of the game. It is safe to say that he has carried that form into the second leg of the Indian Premier League 2021 which started on September 19, Sunday, in Dubai.
Batting first Chennai Super Kings found themselves in trouble at the score of 24 for 4 with Ambati Rayudu retired hurt. But CSK’s long tail came to the rescue along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Bravo joined him at the crease with the score at 105 for 5, with 16.4 overs done. Bravo played a superb cameo that mesmerized fans and his own teammates at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Dwayne Bravo’s sixes makes Deepak Chahar whistle
Bravo struck three sixes during his 8-ball cameo and scored 23 runs. Two of those sixes were incredible shots over the extra cover region. The first came against Adam Milne when he stepped, cleared his feet, and gave himself some roam to whack it inside out over the cover region for a six.
In the next over, Trent Boult pitched it up, missing the yorker marginally and Bravo pounced on it. He got underneath the ball and played a beautiful shot over the cover region. Deepak Chahar who was sitting in the dressing room was seen whistling after one of those shots. With the help of Bravo’s cameo along with some powerful hitting towards the end by Gaikwad, CSK finished on 156 for 6. The opener scored 88 runs from 58 balls, hitting nine fours and four sixes.
For Mumbai Indians, the three pacers, Boult, Milne, and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each. The late hitting by Bravo and Gaikwad spoiled Boult’s figures slightly as he was smashed by the two for three sixes in the 19th over. Bravo hit two sixes while Gaikwad hit one four and one six in that over.
