IPL 2021: Jason Holder finishes mandatory quarantine; available for selection for the next match
Given that SRH lost their opening encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders on 10th April, the chances of Holder's inclusion will be high.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s all-rounder Jason Holder has completed his mandatory seven-day isolation period and will be available for selection for the team’s next match. Holder arrived in Chennai to join SRH camp on April 5 and was quarantined as per the SOP issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Holder joined the Sunrisers last year as a replacement of Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who picked an injury and was subsequently ruled out of the tournament. In the seven matches of the 2020 edition in the UAE, Holder took 14 wickets at 16.64.
Given that SRH lost their opening encounter against Kolkata Knight Riders on 10th April, the chances of his inclusion will be high. Chasing 188 against the Eoin Morgan-led side in their tournament opener, SRH lost both David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha early before Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey added 93 runs to steady the team.
However, KKR struck at the right moment as after Bairstow’s dismissal, the team lost the plot. Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi slammed a couple of blows, although he could not take his team across the line. In that view, the addition of Jason Holder might turn out well as he was capable to finish a couple of games for his team last year.
It’s been a tough couple of months so looking forward to the challenge ahead: Jason Holder
Expressing his delight about joining the team, Holder said “It’s great to be back. It was long enough in a room so happy to be back. It’s been a tough couple of months so looking forward to the challenge ahead. Looking forward to training, obviously, it’s been warm here in India so need to get accustomed to that,”
Announcing his comeback, Sunrisers Hyderabad tweeted “Out of quarantine. Can’t wait to get back. Jason Holder has finished his quarantine”. The Orange Army has been one of the most consistent teams in the IPL, having qualified five times in a row since 2016, the same year they also won their first and only title. With Holder’s addition, SRH would hope to get back to winning ways.
