The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has just started and half of the teams have played their first encounter. Rajasthan Royals are yet to open the proceedings in the latest edition as they are slated to play against the Punjab Kings on 12th April 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium.

Ahead of their opening game, one of their mainstays, Jos Buttler, spoke to ESPNcricinfo, where the batsman was asked several questions regarding the upcoming season. Buttler had an average season with the franchise in 2020 when Rajasthan finished with 12 points at the bottom of the table.

Although, it seems that Buttler wants to change the fortunes of both his team and himself. On being asked about the team that he is most looking forward to playing against, the England batsman answered it to be Chennai Super Kings (CSK). His team is set to play the MS Dhoni-led Sper Kings on 19th April 2021.

Want to break the record of most sixes in a match: Jos Buttler

In one of the other questions, Buttler is asked about the record that he would like to break in the IPL. “Most sixes in the match”, he answered. The record currently stands with the Caribbean star, Chris Gayle, who smashed 17 sixes in the 2013 edition of the league, playing against Pune Warriors India (now-defunct). Gayle’s unbeaten 175 off just 63 is a record that stands to date.

On being asked about the player that he is most excited to face in the upcoming edition, Buttler, after thinking for a while, answered “Moeen Ali”, his England teammate. He even told about that the worst part of being in a bubble is claustrophobia.

Meanwhile, his franchise is all set to play under the leadership of Sanju Samson as the Royals released Steve Smith ahead of the 2021 season. They included some exciting new buys in form of Chris Morris, Fabien Allen, and Moises Henriques. After winning the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008, the Royals are yet to make it into another final. If they do fancy their chances in 2021, Buttler will sure have to fire big.
