Kolkata Knight Riders have disappointed with their performance in recent years. They failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2019 and 2020. Last year, they changed their captain mid-season allowing Eoin Morgan to lead the side in place of Dinesh Karthik. Their star players including Andre Russell and Sunil Narine could not perform well last season. They did not invest much in the mini-auction and have retained the core squad despite a lackluster show by their players.
Let’s look at important stats and numbers of Kolkata Knight Riders and its players ahead of the tournament:
2 – In the last two seasons, KKR have missed the playoffs mainly because of their lower net run rate. They were tied on points with three teams in IPL 2020, and two teams in IPL 2019, but both times they missed out on the top 4 spot due to net run rate.
61 – Shubman Gill has scored 939 runs in 38 IPL innings so far. He needs to hit 61 more runs to complete his 1000 runs in IPL.
10 – Sunil Narine has picked up 390 wickets in 351 matches he has played in T20 cricket. He requires 10 more wickets to complete 400 wickets in T20 cricket, and become the second bowler after Dwayne Bravo (515) to reach the landmark.
