Mumbai Indians’ all-rounder, Krunal Pandya, has often grabbed eyeballs for the wrong reasons and behavior on the field. Before the current edition of the IPL, Krunal’s teammate from Baroda, Deepak Hooda, had out allegations of him for abusive behavior in the training sessions ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

However, later, Deepak Hooda was suspended by the Baroda Cricket Association for a year, barring him from playing any domestic cricket for over a year. After the incident, the sudden and unexpected demise of Himanshu Pandya, Krunal’s father, meant that the Baroda all-rounder went home and halted his participation in the tournament.

Pandya managed to stir up a bit of controversy once again, this time in the 14th edition of the IPL when his team Mumbai Indians took on Rajasthan Royals in match 24 of the league stage on Thursday. Having won the toss, Rohit Sharma invited Rajasthan to bat, who got off to a flier thanks to brisk starts from Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, Mumbai clawed their way back in the middle phase and restricted them to 171 from their 20 overs.

Pandya grabs eyeballs for on-field conduct again

Mumbai Indians, who dropped Ishan Kishan after he failed to get going even once in the first five games, promoted Krunal Pandya ahead of both Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard. Krunal did not have an ideal season himself before the outing against the Royals, but being promoted allowed him to spend some time in the middle and he responded well, hitting a 23-ball 39 and stitching a crucial partnership with Quinton de Kock after the team lost a couple of quick wickets.

However, what once again caught attention was Krunal’s in-field conduct as a video surfaced online shows him carelessly throwing away moisturizer towards his teammate, Anukul Roy.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians have gotten back to winning ways as they started their second leg of the tournament with a seven-wicket win. They currently sit at the fourth spot in the table with equal wins and losses (three each) and will be against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday (1 May, 2021) at the same venue.
