The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is back and how? Chennai Super Kings took the field against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in the first match of the UAE leg. While defending champions MI were dominant in the initial half, the MS Dhoni-led side came back from behind and dented Mumbai’s plans. As a result, the Men in Blue and Gold were restricted to 95/6 while chasing 157 in Dubai.

All-rounder Krunal Pandya went down as the sixth wicket and he was exasperated to say the least. After all, he was dismissed in arguably the most unfortunate manner, via a run-out. There was a communication gap between him and fellow batter Saurabh Tiwary. As a result, the senior Pandya found himself short of the crease.

It was the 15th over of the MI innings and Moeen Ali was operating with the ball. The southpaw guided the ball to short mid-wicket and casually walked towards the non-striker’s end. As the single didn’t look possible, Tiwary didn’t leave his crease and the left-handed batsman found himself stranded in the middle. Although Pandya did his best to reach the batting crease in time, he couldn’t it.

Dwayne Bravo collected the ball neatly and guided it to Dhoni who dislodged the stumps. With Pandya’s wicket being crucial, he was evidently upset. The southpaw, who has come under the scanner for his aggressive behavior many times, couldn’t hide his emotions on this occasion as well. He even gave a mouthful to Tiwary, suggesting a possible run was there. Fans weren’t impressed with Pandya’s gesture as they criticized him for the same.

Earlier in the match, CSK won the toss and elected to bat at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Although the three-time champions suffered a shocking top-order collapse, young opener Rutruraj Gaikwad played an innings of substance to take his side to 156/6. Chasing the tricky total, MI lost wickets at regular intervals as their chase never looked smooth.

Meanwhile, both sides are in a comfortable position in the points table at the moment. While CSK are holding the second place with five wins in seven games, MI are fourth in the table, having won four of their seven games.
