Royal Challengers Bangalore have made an incredible start to their season campaign in IPL 2021. They won their third consecutive match of this edition by defeating KKR by 38 runs. They earlier registered victories against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. RCB posted a big total of 204/4 in 20 overs after they elected to bat first.

Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers played amazing knocks for the team. Maxwell smashed 78 runs off 49 balls with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. AB de Villiers hit 76 runs off only 34 balls which included 9 fours and 3 sixes. For KKR, Varun Chakravarthy picked up 2 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs.

Chasing this total, KKR made a quick start but they also lost wickets at regular intervals. 5 of their batsmen scored over 20 runs but none of them could not cross the 32-run mark. KKR could manage only 166/8 in 20 overs and lost the game by 38 runs. For RCB, Kyle Jamieson, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harshal Patel did well with the ball.

3 – This is the first time in their IPL history that RCB has won the first three matches in a season. Before this, they won the first 2 games in IPL 2014 season.

2 – This was only the second time when Glenn Maxwell smashed 2 consecutive fifties in IPL. He earlier hit 3 half-centuries on the trot in IPL 2014.

3 – This was the third consecutive half-century for AB de Villiers while playing against Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL.

3 – In the last three games against RCB, the KKR team has faced three consecutive losses.

24 – AB de Villiers won his 24th player of the match award in IPL. He is at the top spot in this list followed by Chris Gayle (22).

89.29– Devudtt Padikkal scored only 25 runs in 28 balls he faced in the innings at a strike rate of 89.29. Since 2010, this is the fifth-lowest strike rate for an RCB opener in IPL.

6 – After a gap of 6 IPL matches, Yuzvendra Chahal picked up more than 1 wicket in a game.
