IPL 2021: Match 6, SRH vs RCB – Royal Challengers Bangalore Player Ratings

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), after beating the Mumbai Indians (MI), have now beaten the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by six runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. For a chunk of the contest on Thursday, Virat Kohli and Co found themselves behind the eight-ball.

However, some brilliant bowling at the death made sure that they secured victory from the jaws of defeat. After winning the toss, the Sunrisers restricted the Challengers to 149, a score that looked under-par at the Chepauk.

David Warner and Manish Pandey’s 83-run stand kept RCB at bay for quite a while. But once they got out, the Orange Army collapsed like a pack of cards. In two instances, the Sunrisers faltered in a run-chase. As far as RCB are concerned, they moved to the top of the table.

Virat Kohli- 7/10

Virat Kohli was circumspect during his knock. He smashed four fours in his 29-ball 33. Fast bowler Jason Holder got rid of the RCB skipper when the latter tried to up the ante with some power-hitting.

Devdutt Padikkal- 3/10

Devdutt Padikkal started his knock with a couple of elegant fours. But he couldn’t carry on after Bhuvneshwar Kumar accounted for his wicket. The left-handed batsman managed 11 runs off 13 balls.

Shahbaz Ahmed- 9.5/10

Shahbaz Ahmed got a 10-ball 14 while batting. But it was his bowling that did the trick for the Challengers. In the two overs he bowled, the left-arm spinner picked up the wickets of Manish Pandey, Jonny Bairstow and Abdul Samad.

Glenn Maxwell- 9.5/10

Glenn Maxwell showed a lot of maturity as he got his first IPL half-century after the 2016 edition. The Victorian managed 59 runs off 41 balls and his knock was laced with five glorious fours and three sixes.

AB de Villiers- 1/10

AB de Villiers didn’t quite have a great day with the bat in hand. He came to bat at number five and could manage only one run. It was Rashid Khan, who accounted for his precious wicket in the 14th over.

Washington Sundar- 4/10

Washington Sundar was demoted to number six after opening in the first game. But he got out after scoring eight runs off 11 balls. In the two overs he bowled, Sundar gave 14 runs with seven dot deliveries.

Daniel Christian- 2.5/10

Daniel Christian didn’t quite have a good outing. He perished to T Natarajan after coming to bat at number seven. With the ball, the veteran was entrusted for only a solitary over in which he gave away seven runs.

Kyle Jamieson- 7/10

Kyle Jamieson turned out to be the most expensive bowler for RCB as he leaked runs at 10 per over. But he also prized out the all-important wicket of David Warner, who was batting on 54 at a strike rate around 150.

Harshal Patel- 9/10

Harshal Patel backed up his performance against MI with another impressive show. In four overs, he gave away 25 runs and also got the important wickets of Vijay Shankar and Shahbaz Nadeem in the death overs.

Mohammed Siraj- 9/10

Mohammed Siraj was sharp in the first two overs after which he leaked runs in the third. However, the pacer made a comeback and got the wickets of Wriddhiman Saha and Jason Holder. The pacer went for 25 runs and bowled a maiden as well.

Yuzvendra Chahal- 6/10

Yuzvendra Chahal went wicketless for the second time in a row. But he was fairly economical this time around. In his four overs, the leg-spin bowler gave away 29 runs to go with nine dot deliveries.
