Australia’s celebrated all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been a hot topic in the cricket fraternity for the past six to seven months. In the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Maxwell plied his trade for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings).

The all-rounder was bought for a whopping amount of INR 10.75 crore by Punjab during the IPL 2020 auction. However, the 32-year-old failed to live up to his reputation as he experienced an underwhelming season. In 13 matches in IPL 2020, Glenn could score only 108 runs at an average of 15.42 and strike rate of 101.88.

The most shocking part was that throughout the tournament, the hard-hitter failed to hit even a single maximum. The poor performance brought a lot of criticism for the Australian Superstar as he was placed under major scrutiny by the former players including the likes of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.

However, the torrid run in IPL 2020 didn’t affect Maxwell’s price tag as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) shelled out a staggering amount of INR 14.25 crores during IPL 2021 auctions to acquire the services of the all-rounder. While many weren’t sure about RCB’s move of including Maxwell, the strategy has paid off.

The 32-year-old has been in a blistering form in IPL 2021 thus far as he has delivered many match-defining performances for RCB. In their first match against MI, he scored 39 runs off 28 deliveries. This was followed by the all-rounder winning the Man of the Match award against SRH for his knock of 59 runs off 41 balls.

In addition, Glenn Maxwell was at his fluent best with the willow in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Batting first, he played smart cricket as he stabilized RCB’s innings after Virat Kohli marched back to the pavilion in the second over only.

Glenn launched an assault on the opposition team as he gave a glimpse of his power-hitting by smashing 78 runs off just 49 balls including nine boundaries and three maximums. His exploits propelled the Bangalore outfit to a massive score of 204 runs.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell’s scintillating form has initiated a meme fest on Twitter with many trolling his previous franchise Punjab and their co-owner Preity Zinta. Zinta is continuously trending on Twitter with the memers coming up with hilarious memes and trolls.
