Prithvi Shaw, the young Indian batsman, became the Player of the Match in Delhi Capitals (DC) thumping seven-wicket win over the Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday, April 29 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He scored 82 off 41 balls with the help of 11 fours and three sixes, helping his team chase the target of 155 with as many as 21 balls to spare.
He started DC’s run-chase in an emphatic manner, hitting six fours off Shivam Mavi in the very first over, which went for 25 runs. From there on, he didn’t look back and took the Capitals to a position of command. In the meantime, after the match, he was involved in a hilarious moment with Mavi.
The 21-year-old Shaw captained Mavi when India won the 2018 U19 World Cup in New Zealand. Mavi went up to Shaw and wrapped his arms around him, depicting their friendship. Shaw threw a funny expression as the KKR bowler pulled his leg.

I keep playing and don’t think about the score: Prithvi Shaw
On his counter-attack on Mavi, Shaw said that he was aware of the fast bowler’s tactics, having played with him for quite a few years. The youngster said that though it was a tad tough to play the spinners, he kept playing his strokes without nurturing any inhibitions. Shaw perished in the 16th over when Pat Cummins got rid of him.
“Wasn’t thinking anything, to be honest. Was just waiting for the loose balls. We’ve played for four-five years now (with Mavi), so I knew where he will bowl to me. I was prepared (for the short ball). The first four-five balls he bowled were half-volleys so I was prepared for the short ball but unfortunately, he didn’t bowl,” Shaw said.
“On this wicket especially when the spinner is bowling it wasn’t coming very nicely onto the bat. Was stopping a little. Was waiting for them to bowl at me on the off-stump or outside so I can free my hands. When I’m in there, I keep playing and don’t think about the score. Don’t think about myself, just want the team to win,” he added.
