Chris Gayle has looked in fairly decent rhythm in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Playing for Punjab Kings (PBKS), the southpaw has scored 119 runs from four games at an average and strike rate of 29.75 and 120.20 respectively. Even as he has two scores in the 40s, the Jamaican has also tasted a couple of failures with the bat in hand.
Amidst his shows on the field, Gayle, recently, caught the eyes after he recreated Amrish Puri’s famous dialogue from the movie Mr India, released back in 1987. As far as Puri is concerned, he was known for playing iconic villainous roles in Indian cinema.
In 2005, he breathed his last at the age of 73. In a video, Gayle was seen, recreating the dialogue- Mogambo Bohot Khush Hua. The official Instagram handle of the Punjab-based PBKS uploaded the video, involving Gayle during a training session.

KL Rahul lauds Chris Gayle
On April 23, PBKS beat Mumbai Indians (MI) by nine wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Gayle strained to find his timing early on but ended with a 35-ball 43 with five fours and two sixes. Rahul stated that Gayle’s experience of playing cricket is worth its weight in gold.
“It was good of Chris that he got through that period. He was always confident that he could make it up. He knew whom to target. That’s what you get with Chris, not just destructive batting but also experience of so many years playing T20 cricket,” Rahul was quoted as saying after the match.
Rahul, who made an unbeaten 52-ball 60, also lauded Shahrukh Khan and young leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi for stepping up and performing to expectations.
“It’s important to be patient. The guys we have backed and given opportunities are slowly coming through. Hooda has been playing really well, Shahrukh got an opportunity and he’s been batting really well, Bishnoi came in this game and the way he bowled was brilliant. Fingers crossed, hopefully, we can keep climbing and keep getting two points every game,” he stated.
“I am sure it gives him (Bishnoi) a lot of confidence. He, unfortunately, missed the first few games, he’s been working really hard with Anil bhai,” Rahul added.
