IPL 2021: Punjab Kings unveil their new jersey ahead of the season
The Punjab-based outfit has also changed its name ahead of the new season.
As Punjab Kings eye their first-ever IPL title, they are all set to start afresh in the upcoming season of the tournament. The team has not only changed its name and logo ahead of the upcoming season but has also unveiled its new jersey. The Punjab-based outfit has once again assembled a strong squad for IPL 2021.
The team boasts the likes of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle, Mohammed Shami, Jhye Richardson in their ranks. They are definitely one of the favourites to win the title this year and would be desperate to go all the way. Punjab Kings have not managed to make it to the playoffs since their maiden final appearance in 2014.
In the last season, they had finished at the sixth spot after a rollercoaster run. They struggled for consistency at the start of the tournament which hurt their chances. Punjab Kings managed to register five straight victories midway through IPL 2020 but defeats in their last two league games saw them miss out on the playoffs.
Rahul & Co. must have learned their lessons from the last season and would be desperate to make amends this year. They will open their campaign on April 12 against Rajasthan Royals. IPL 2021, on the other hand, will get underway on April 9 with a match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
New jersey for Punjab Kings
Ahead of starting a brand new season, Punjab Kings have unveiled their new jersey. The franchise, on Tuesday, took to Twitter to post a video in order to give a glimpse of new jersey to the world. The new logo of the team is being displayed at the top left of the jersey. The new logo depicts a shield inside which the team name has been written with the lion roaring.
In the old logo, there were two lions. Just like the previous jersey, there is a print of a roaring lion at the front. And unlike the old jersey, the new jersey sports patterns at the side. The previous jersey had two blue lines at the side.
