IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson gives a new nickname to Jos Buttler
Sanju Samson's side will be facing MS Dhoni and his men in their next match of the IPL 2021 on April 19.
The Indian Premier League’s biggest achievement is that it helps Indian cricketers, with a lack of exposure to international cricket, get a chance to interact with star players. This has also allowed us to witness young players forming strong relationships with foreign players. Recently, Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson coined a nickname for his teammate, Jos Buttler.
The moment when Samson used the new nickname for the England cricketer was captured on camera as the skipper was delivering a speech after his side’s match against Delhi Capitals. The Royals defeated the runners-up from last season, the Capitals, at the Wankhede Stadium, just a few days ago. While speaking to his players after the match, Samson shared his thoughts on the performance.
A video of his speech was uploaded to the Rajasthan Royals’ social media profiles. In the video, we first hear Samson addressing his players. “I really enjoyed the intensity in the ground today, and as Sanga said I was able to make some really good decisions.” Samson continued further by stating that it was Jos Buttler who helped him with the decisions. However, as he took Buttler’s name, everyone heard the new nickname the captain came up with.
RR players can’t stop laughing
Samson said, “That was only possible because Jos bhai really helped me.” The word ‘Bhai’ means brother in the Hindi language and is a popular way of addressing people with respect in the Indian culture. Rajasthan Royals’ social media picked up on this and made a montage of players dancing to the tunes of ‘Jos Bhai’. Meanwhile, Buttler was seen smiling in the video.
Towards the end of the video, we see Samson saying, “Thank You Jos Bhai” as the entire Royals team starts to laugh. The video was uploaded with a caption, “Sanju’s got a new nickname for Jos.” The video became an instant hit among the fans as they shared and retweeted it.
After losing their first match in the most heartbreaking fashion, the Royals registered their first points of the IPL 2021 against Delhi in Mumbai. Samson’s team will now take on Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai on April 19.
