IPL franchise Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is an ardent supporter of environmental and sustainability issues. Rohit has collaborated with many organizations in the past including the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to work towards the welfare of the environment. This time around, the opening batsman has decided to attract the attention of people towards nature by wearing unique shoes with a noble message printed on them.
Since the commencement of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit has captained Mumbai Indians in three matches and was seen supporting three noble causes. On Saturday, MI was up against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. During the highly-anticipated clash, the 33-year-old was seen wearing the shoes with the message ‘Save the Corals’.
After the game, Rohit Sharma took to his official Instagram handle to talk about the cause in brief. “Our reefs are the heart and souls of our oceans. Nothing makes me happier than a healthy reef. My love for the ocean cannot be put into words and saving it will forever be my cause. I was afraid of the ocean at the start but as I learned more about it and all the amazing marine life it houses and the massive role it plays in our survival, I fell in love instantly.
“Even the tiniest change in our mindset, in our activities, or in our understanding of what we can do to help will have a massive ripple effect on our environment. Protecting our oceans means protecting our future,” the MI skipper wrote.

In the season-opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Rohit Sharma gave the message, ‘ Save the Rhinos’. In the second clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the opening batter urged the people to make oceans plastic-free.
“The other cause that’s extremely close to my heart. This one hits hard! This is a hundred percent in our control to reverse. I take my cause with me while I go out and do what I love! I walk out with my cause but it won’t end there, I need you guys to walk with me. Let’s get our oceans healthy again,” Rohit wrote after MI vs KKR clash.
