IPL 2021: Saurabh Tiwary gets hit by Arshdeep Singh's passionate throw, pacer apologizes

Mumbai Indians (MI) finally got back to the winning ways as they beat Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six wickets in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The match had typical dose entertainment, fight back from both teams, and also a couple of spirit of play incidents. MI and PBKS have a great rivalry also in the IPL as the head-to-head was just marginally in favor of MI (14) in front of PBKS who had won 13 games.

MI made it 15 on account of some vital contributions from the likes of Keiron Pollard, Saurabh Tiwary, and Hardik Pandya. But young PBKS fast bowler Arshdeep Singh won hearts over his gesture towards the MI batter Tiwary. While batting in the second innings, the southpaw was hit by a furious Arshdeep on his genitals. But the blow to the batter was a bit serious than what it looked in the naked eye.

As the ball hit Tiwary, he was down and was on his haunches for few minutes. Arshdeep immediately apologized and PBKS skipper KL Rahul ran to check on the batter. Apart from Rahul and fast bowler, even Mandeep Singh came to enquire about Tiwary’s well-being.

In the heat of the moment, Arshdeep threw the ball but quickly understood the gravity of the situation, when he saw the MI batter in some searing pain. Although PBKS may have been docked of few points because of the spirit of play, Arshdeep’s apology and Rahul’s helping of Tiwary might have helped them to get away with a few points from the officials and umpires.

Mumbai Indians finally snap their losing streak

The five-time IPL champions MI delivered a dominating performance with their big players like Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya stepping up at the various junctures of the game. If Pollard was deadly with the ball in taking the wickets of Rahul and Chris Gayle in one over, then the junior Pandya scored a crucial unbeaten 40 runs. MI finally won the match and arrested a three-match losing streak.

Pollard’s two game-changing wickets earned him the player match of the award. In the process, he also became the first player to reach 300 wickets and score 10000 runs in T20 cricket.
