IPL 2021: Shah Rukh Khan comes up with hilarious reply after fan asks him 'KKR cup layegi na is baar'
Shah Rukh Khan was interacting with his fans on Twitter when one of them asked about KKR's chances in IPL 2021.
Kolkata Knight Riders will be desperate to end their six-year wait for an IPL trophy in the upcoming season of the competition. The Kolkata-based outfit is one of the only three teams to have won the IPL more than once. The other teams are Mumbai Indians (5) and Chennai Super Kings (3). But while Mumbai and Chennai have won the tournament in recent years, KKR have failed to do it.
CSK won their last IPL title in 2018 while Mumbai Indians have won the previous two editions of the IPL. KKR, on the other hand, have not laid their hands on the trophy since winning their second IPL title in 2014. Since then, they have also not made it to the final. In the last edition of the competition, they finished the league stage in the fifth position, tied on 14 points with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
But while RCB and SRH made it to the playoffs, KKR missed out due to their poor net run-rate. They struggled for stability right throughout the season, with injuries and lack of form for key players hampering their progress. Midway through the season, KKR also had to change their skipper after Dinesh Karthik stepped down from the post.
The wicketkeeper-batsman led KKR in the first 7 matches, guiding the team to 4 wins and 3 defeats. He handed over the captaincy to Eoin Morgan but the change in leadership did not change the team’s fortunes. In fact, KKR did worse under Morgan as they could win only 3 of their last 7 league games.
Shah Rukh Khan on KKR’s chances
Only time will tell whether KKR manage to win this year’s IPL or not. But if they do, their co-owner Shah Rukh Khan has planned to do something hilarious with the IPL cup. The Bollywood superstar revealed his hilarious idea when he was interacting with his fans on Twitter.
One of the fans asked him whether KKR would win the cup this time. In reply, Shah Rukh hilariously tweeted, “I hope so. I want to start drinking coffee in that only!”
Meanwhile, IPL 2021 is scheduled to start on April 9 with a clash between Mumbai Indians and RCB. KKR, on the other hand, will open their campaign on April 11 when they lock horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
