India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer recently suffered from probably the most difficult times of his life when he got his shoulder injury earlier this year. However, in the latest turn of events, he is all set and good to go as he has joined his franchise Delhi Capitals in the UAE. The second leg of IPL 2021 is all set to kick off on September 19 and Delhi is currently leading the points table.
Iyer got ruled out of India’s home series against England after sustaining a shoulder injury in one of the matches of the same series. Later, he was also ruled out of the Indian leg of IPL and had to undergo a shoulder injury. He then underwent a long rehab and is now all set to join the second leg of IPL in the UAE.
It has to be noted that Rishabh Pant was named as skipper of DC’s side when Iyer couldn’t play the first session of IPL. However, it remains to be seen who will take up Delhi’s charge once Iyer is back. Iyer made a point to say that the feeling was extremely difficult while he sat out to see his other teammates play.
I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest, says Shreyas Iyer
“I am feeling on top of the world, to be honest. This was the thing I was eagerly waiting for. It’s never a bad feeling to be among the team. I came six days prior to the start of the practice sessions for the team, and I had two good games against the UAE team, so I just want to continue with the same momentum,” said Iyer as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
“The feeling was very difficult to sit out and see my teammates play. I was sitting in front of the TV, watching each and every game and feeling as if I am on the ground and trying to replicate the scenario at my place. But, it’s in the past now, I have to forget about it and continue with the same flow, the team has maintained throughout,” he added.
