IPL 2021: Shubman Gill smashes a no-look six off T Natarajan
Watching Gill play that shot was a batting delight and can be easily considered as one of the best shots of the tournament if not the best.
The third match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League is being played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Both the teams boast of having a quality overseas line-up in their squad and entering the contest they managed to spring a surprise by selecting interesting four overseas players.
The Knight Riders have given a chance to Pat Cummins, Shakib Al Hasan, and Andre Russell alongside the skipper Eoin Morgan. SRH, on the other hand, named captain David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, and the spin duo of Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan. The inclusion of Bairstow came as a surprise as SRH also has another keeper in the form of Wriddhiman Saha.
Put to bat first, KKR got off to a terrific start as the new opening pair of Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill started hitting from the very first ball. The young Indian opening batsman Gill is known for his character and temperament and the batsman again gave a glimpse of his class by smashing a no-look six off the yorker specialist T Natarajan.
In the fifth over, skipper David Warner handed the ball to Natarajan after Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sandeep Sharma conceded as many as 33 runs in just four overs. However, this move didn’t reap a good result for the Orange Army as Shubman welcomed the Indian pace sensation by smashing a maximum.
Shubman Gill loses his wicket to Rashid Khan
Natarajan bowled a length ball and Gill made no mistakes as he picked it from a length and hit the ball on the top over long-on for a no-look six. Watching the 21-year-old play that shot was a batting delight and can be easily considered as one of the best shots of the tournament if not the best.
Shubman Gill looked well settled in the middle as the fans were hoping to see another spectacular inning from the youngster. However, they were left disappointed as the spinner Rashid Khan weaved the magic of his googly and uprooted the stumps of the batsman. Thus, Gill marched back to the pavilion after scoring just 15 runs off 13 deliveries.
