The RR side after starting brilliantly in the first half of IPL 2020, wasn’t expected to finish at the rear end of the points table. In the second half, under the leadership of Steve Smith, the team had a dissatisfying time and as a result, now the reigns have been handed over to the young Sanju Samson. The distinguishing feature of this team has always been its overseas players and when it comes to picking their strongest capped player then hardly anyone would sway away from Jos Buttler.

Buttler is not only one of the best batters in the T20Is but also averages more than 50 for England as an opening batsman. The cricketer on his given day can thrash any bowling attack and with his match-winning innings can finish the matches in a whip. That’s why even in a team like England, where there’s a plethora of opening competition, someone like Jos Buttler has been steadfast with his opening position. In IPL 2020, the wicket-keeper batsman had a reasonable season at least by his standards where he only amassed a total of 328 runs. However, in the IPL 2021, the RR fans would be hoping that Jos Buttler just like in the 2018 season would once again soar RR into the top four.

In terms of their weakest capped player yet again Jaydev Unadkat is found going through a lean patch. In the recently concluded domestic season, the left-arm pacer had a struggling time wherein the SMAT matches he was conceding runs at an economy of over 9. In the VHT matches, the speedster although took 8 wickets from his six matches, eventually was leaking runs at an average of almost 6. Last year for RR, in his seven games, Unadkat could merely scalp four wickets that too at an economy of 9.91. Hence with his reasonable bowling, it will be intriguing whether the RR management starts with him or no.
