The second leg of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) has already been moved from India to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated that the decision was taken keeping in mind the weather conditions in India during the month of September.

Back on May 4, the tournament had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, players from Bangladesh, West Indies, and England are pretty much assured of missing the second leg of the cash-rich league.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a tad torrid time in the first leg of the IPL. Having lost four out of seven games, Sanju Samson and Co are in with the tough task of making the playoffs. In the second leg, they are in more trouble.
The first time around, Liam Livingstone, <a href="https://www.facebook.com/crictracker/posts/4441091755921511" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jofra Archer</a>, and Andrew Tye didn’t get to play a single game. All-rounder Ben Stokes was also ruled out due to injury after only one match.
To add insult to injury, Jos Buttler, who scored a ton against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), might not be a part of the second leg. Moreover, Mustafizur Rahman, the Bangladesh pacer is likely to not get a NOC due to national duties.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) are set to lose quite a few of their big names. The fast bowling unit is set to be depleted as Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, and Chris Jordan may not be a part of the second leg. Hence, it goes without saying that Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh have to do a chunk of the work for them.
In the batting department, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2021-shikhar-dhawan-reacts-hilariously-after-dawid-malan-escapes-a-close-lbw-appeal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dawid Malan</a>, the ICC’s number one ranked T20I batter, is most likely to miss out. Though he played only one game in the first leg, his omission is going to come as a massive development.
Moises Henriques is the genuine all-rounder, who may not be a part of the second leg of the tournament. There’s also a chance for Nicholas Pooran, Chris Gayle, and Fabian Allen to miss out.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) biggest loss comes in the form of Pat Cummins, who has confirmed that he won’t be going to the UAE. In the first leg, he was KKR’s standout bowler by a country mile. Not to forget the knock with the bat he played against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Andre Russell’s potential unavailability might end up hurting the Men in Gold and Purple. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2021-shikhar-dhawan-reacts-hilariously-after-dawid-malan-escapes-a-close-lbw-appeal/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Eoin Morgan</a>, their skipper, might not be available as well. Hence, if Morgan doesn’t play, it remains to be seen whether the Knights go back to Dinesh Karthik or appoint a new captain.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to miss their key stars from the England national team. Moeen Ali and Sam Curran played key roles for them in the first leg of the T20 event.
Both of them performed with bat and ball and were the reasons behind the Yellow Army sitting in the top half of the points table of the championship. If they don’t play, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2020-csks-overseas-stars-dwayne-bravo-imran-tahir-and-mitchell-santner-to-reach-uae-on-september-12/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mitchell Santner</a> and Imran Tahir might get to play a bit more frequently.
Jason Behrendorff is another player, who might miss out. The left-armer came in a replacement for his countryman Josh Hazlewood but didn’t get to play a single match. Dwayne Bravo is likely to miss out as well.

Delhi Capitals (DC), who are placed in the top half of the points table, won’t be having a few key names as well. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/pat-cummins-is-favourite-to-be-captain-steve-smith-vice-captain-mark-waugh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Steve Smith</a>, Marcus Stoinis, and Chris Woakes, who all played consistently, may not feature in the second leg.
The trio, collectively, made sure that the Capitals continue their dominating run in the tournament. Smith was someone, who was getting scores in the 30s on a regular basis and guided his team through.
Tom Curran also played a few games before he was dropped for not being effective enough. Sam Billings didn’t get to play a single game and he’s unlikely to be a part of the second leg as well. Shimron Hetmyer might play as well.

Mumbai Indians (MI) are likely to not be affected too much due to the unavailability of players. Chris Lynn scored in the 40s against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening game of IPL 2021.
However, after South Africa’s <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/going-to-miss-all-these-special-ladies-quinton-de-kocks-wife-pens-a-heartfelt-note-flying-back-to-south-africa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Quinton de Kock</a> returned, the Queenslander went back to warming the benches. Lynn didn’t get to play a single match in 2020 and in 2021, his fate turned out to be somewhat similar.
However, if Kieron Pollard doesn’t end up playing, it could hamper their middle order to a large extent. Australian fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile may also not take part in the second leg of the IPL.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to endure a couple of body blows in the tournament. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/david-warner-reunites-with-his-wife-and-kids-afer-ipl-2021-suspension/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">David Warner</a>, though a former skipper, is their all-time leading run-getter. If he doesn’t get to play, the Orange Army’s batting would be diminished to a significant extent.
He didn’t have the best of outings though in the first leg. Jonny Bairstow, arguably, was SRH’s standout batter in the T20 league. Not only was he scoring runs, but also getting them at a brisk rate.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) may end up losing Glenn Maxwell, who was an apt foil for <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/i-have-seen-ab-de-villiers-get-a-standing-ovation-in-india-like-the-ones-given-to-dhoni-kohli-and-rohit-aakash-chopra/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB de Villiers</a> in their middle order. Though he didn’t contribute much with the ball, he has the knack for making breakthroughs at crucial stages. Kane Richardson left for Australia during the first leg after playing only one game even as Adam Zampa didn’t feature in a single match.
Daniel Sams didn’t get to play much either. However, it’s only Maxwell’s absence that’s going to deplete them to some extent if not a whole lot.
