Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns in the eliminator of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on October 11. With no second chance, the game was expected to go down the wire and though it wasn’t a high-scoring encounter, there were few moments, were the match turned. Also, the umpiring plays an important in these situations and for the same reason, RCB skipper Virat Kohli was livid on the day.

He was seen arguing with the umpire Virender Sharma after his multiple decisions were overturned on the day. Interestingly, all his decisions were against RCB which the team had to overturn using a DRS. Kohli was involved in a heated argument with the umpire in the 7th over when a decision against Rahul Tripathi was overturned which gave RCB a crucial second wicket of the innings.

The umpire didn’t adjudge the batsman lbw on real time and on review, it was clear that the ball had hit the pad first and not bat. The TV umpire adjudged Tripathi out and soon after, the RCB skipper was seen in heated discussion with Virender and it seemed as if he was asking the reasons for not giving the decision in the favour of his team.

Here’s the video:

Umpire had adjudged two RCB batters wrongly out earlier

The same umpire, Virender Sharma had adjudged RCB’s two batters out earlier in the day. In the 16th over, Shahbaz Ahmed was given lbw when the ball hit his pad and the replays confirmed there was an edge only to overturn the onfield decision.

Again in the 20th over, the same umpire was under the scanner when Harshal Patel was given lbw despite the ball hitting the bat before hitting the pad. The decision was overturned yet again. On both the occasions, RCB batters had taken a single and according to the rules, they were denied a run as the umpire had given him out. Kohli’s reason to get angry was probably the same as he aruged with the officials on the field.
