The mega auction for IPL 2022 took place in Bengaluru on the February 12 and 13. Over 590 players had been listed ahead of the auction and 204 were bought by all the 10 franchises after a series of high-octane bidding. All the teams have tried buying players whom they felt were right for their team and we are all set to witness some great cricketing action in the upcoming IPL season.

Ishan Kishan, the left-handed wicketkeeper batter became the most expensive buy in the 2022 auction when the Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 15.25 Crore. All the sides came into the auction with a lot of vacancies to fill. While some teams were looking for batters, others were looking for good additions to the bowling department.

Some teams were building a new team with a new core while a few others were looking to find their new skipper in the auction. As earlier mentioned, with a lot of slots to fill, there were a lot of players for whom the bidding war took place between various teams at the same time.

The man who has led the dramatic rise of the rebranded Delhi franchise in IPL, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/player-like-iyer-sitting-out-is-very-hard-on-him-indian-skipper-rohit-sharma/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Shreyas Iyer</strong></a> was one of the names that were expected to raise bids from various franchises. The right-handed batter from Mumbai has played 87 matches in the IPL scoring 2375 runs with a strike rate of 123.95, along with 16 fifty-plus scores. Having led Delhi twice into playoffs surely boosted the 27-year-old&#8217;s cricketing resume.

RCB and DC wasted no time in bidding for the middle-order batter as soon as his name came under the hammer. DC tried their best to get back their former skipper. However later LSG, GT, and KKR entered into the bidding and after a long bidding war, he was finally bought by KKR for INR 12.25 Crores.

Second on the list of names that started a bidding war between the sides was young all-rounder Washington Sundar. The off-spinner was in hot demand during the auction.

Sundar has taken 27 wickets in the 42 matches that he has played. However, it is his miserly economy of 6.94 that makes all the teams bid for him. He has been really effective with the ball in the powerplay and had played a similar role for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

PBKS, GT, DC, LSG got into a bidding battle to acquire the services of the 22-year-old all-rounder before the SRH franchise signed him up for a huge sum of INR 8.75 Crore.

The left-arm spinner with the ability to clear the boundary with ease was bound to make teams go after him after he was released by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2022 auctions.

Krunal Pandya played a key role in Mumbai&#8217;s dominating run from 2017 to 2020. He was the player of the match in their 2017 IPL final against the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant.

Rahul Chahar is one of the players who made a significant contribution in Mumbai Indians winning the IPL title in 2020. He was picked by MI in the 2019 auction and played 13 games in that season picking up 13 wickets.

Young tearaway quick Shivam Mavi was one of India&#8217;s brightest stars in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018. He grabbed attention with his ability to be skiddy and rush the batters.

Mavi was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 auction and since then he has played for them. The youngster has had an average IPL career up till now and hasn&#8217;t been able to replicate the same kind of success he had at the U19 levels.

However, his ability to generate high speeds attracted bids from a lot of franchises. But KKR did not let go of the youngster as they bought him back for INR 7.25 Crore.

Avesh Khan has been one of the most impressive Indian pacers to play in the competition for the last few years. With his ability to bowl in the late 130s and his ability to trouble batters with a consistent hard length and a mean yorker, Khan was expected to make waves coming into this auction.

Romario Shephard has been one of the names to have risen through the ranks of the West Indian domestic cricket in the last few months. With his ability to clear the fence quite easily and an uncanny accuracy bowling the yorkers have made him one of the most sought-after names in T20 cricket.

<p>Young tearaway quick Shivam Mavi was one of India’s brightest stars in the Under-19 World Cup in 2018. He grabbed attention with his ability to be skiddy and rush the batters.</p>
<p>Mavi was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2018 auction and since then he has played for them. The youngster has had an average IPL career up till now and hasn’t been able to replicate the same kind of success he had at the U19 levels.</p>

<p>Romario Shephard has been one of the names to have risen through the ranks of the West Indian domestic cricket in the last few months. With his ability to clear the fence quite easily and an uncanny accuracy bowling the yorkers have made him one of the most sought-after names in T20 cricket.</p>
<p>Predominantly a T20 player, Shepherd’s numbers are quite impressive. He has picked 53 wickets at an average of 21.18 and an economy rate of 8.18. He turned up for the West Indies in their recent T20I series against <a href="http://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/england" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>England</strong></a> and India. The hard-hitting all-rounder was part of the outfit for the series against Ireland and Pakistan as well.</p>

<p>Deepak Hooda who recently made his debut against the <a href="http://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/west-indies" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>West Indies</strong></a> impressed one and all his all with his all-around abilities. The Rohtak lad had impressed one and all in his debut season for the Rajasthan Royals with his big-hitting abilities in 2015.</p>
<p>With Indian all-rounders in high demand in the auction, it wasn’t a surprise when various teams started bidding for him. His former franchises SRH, RR were among the teams bidding for him and after a heated bidding war.</p>
<p>The Lucknow-based franchise finally acquired him for a hefty sum of INR 5.75 Crore. He will be looking to make a mark in this season and a bigger role in expected for him in the LSG set up.</p>
<h3>1. R Sai Kishore – 6 teams (RR, DC, CSK, PBKS, GT, SRH)</h3>

<p>R Sai Kishore has been one of the best off-spinners in the Indian domestic cricket arena. Kishore has played an important role for Tamil Nadu’s triumphs in recent years in white-ball cricket. He was part of CSK previously but didn’t get a single game, however, given his skills, the left-arm spinner was expected to trigger a bidding war.</p>
<p>He was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in 2020. The left-arm spinner attracted bids from various franchises which included RR, CSK, PBKS, SRH, and GT.</p>
<p>After an intense bidding session, he was bought by the new Gujarat Franchise for INR 3.0 Crore, which was 15 times his base price of INR 20 Lakhs.</p>

<p>The mega auction for IPL 2022 took place in Bengaluru on the February 12 and 13. Over 590 players had been listed ahead of the auction and 204 were bought by all the 10 franchises after a series of high-octane bidding. All the teams have tried buying players whom they felt were right for their team and we are all set to witness some great cricketing action in the upcoming IPL season.</p>
<p>Ishan Kishan, the left-handed wicketkeeper batter became the most expensive buy in the 2022 auction when the Mumbai Indians bought him for INR 15.25 Crore. All the sides came into the auction with a lot of vacancies to fill. While some teams were looking for batters, others were looking for good additions to the bowling department.</p>
<p>Some teams were building a new team with a new core while a few others were looking to find their new skipper in the auction. As earlier mentioned, with a lot of slots to fill, there were a lot of players for whom the bidding war took place between various teams at the same time.</p>

<p>The man who has led the dramatic rise of the rebranded Delhi franchise in IPL, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/player-like-iyer-sitting-out-is-very-hard-on-him-indian-skipper-rohit-sharma/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Shreyas Iyer</strong></a> was one of the names that were expected to raise bids from various franchises. The right-handed batter from Mumbai has played 87 matches in the IPL scoring 2375 runs with a strike rate of 123.95, along with 16 fifty-plus scores. Having led Delhi twice into playoffs surely boosted the 27-year-old&#8217;s cricketing resume.</p>
<p>RCB and DC wasted no time in bidding for the middle-order batter as soon as his name came under the hammer. DC tried their best to get back their former skipper. However later LSG, GT, and KKR entered into the bidding and after a long bidding war, he was finally bought by KKR for INR 12.25 Crores.</p>

<p>Second on the list of names that started a bidding war between the sides was young all-rounder Washington Sundar. The off-spinner was in hot demand during the auction.</p>
<p>Sundar has taken 27 wickets in the 42 matches that he has played. However, it is his miserly economy of 6.94 that makes all the teams bid for him. He has been really effective with the ball in the powerplay and had played a similar role for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.</p>
<p>PBKS, GT, DC, LSG got into a bidding battle to acquire the services of the 22-year-old all-rounder before the SRH franchise signed him up for a huge sum of INR 8.75 Crore.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/there-will-be-pressure-shane-watson-opens-up-on-tim-davids-high-price-tag-in-ipl-2022/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Tim David</strong></a> has made a reputation for himself as someone who can hit the ball a long way playing in various leagues all around the world. He first shot to fame after his stint with the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.</p>
<p>David is currently participating in the ongoing PSL. His last few scores in the PSL are 24 (off 12 balls), 34 (off 18 balls), 51* (off 19 balls), and 71 (off 29 balls). All these innings are a perfect testament to his big-hitting prowess.</p>
<p>The batter, from Singapore, initiated a bidding battle between DC, PBKS, KKR, RR, and MI, and the Mumbai franchise acquired the middle order batter for a whopping INR 8.25 Crore.</p>

<p>Deepak Hooda who recently made his debut against the <a href="http://www.crictracker.com/cricket-teams/west-indies" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>West Indies</strong></a> impressed one and all his all with his all-around abilities. The Rohtak lad had impressed one and all in his debut season for the Rajasthan Royals with his big-hitting abilities in 2015.</p>
<p>With Indian all-rounders in high demand in the auction, it wasn&#8217;t a surprise when various teams started bidding for him. His former franchises SRH, RR were among the teams bidding for him and after a heated bidding war.</p>
<p>The Lucknow-based franchise finally acquired him for a hefty sum of INR 5.75 Crore. He will be looking to make a mark in this season and a bigger role in expected for him in the LSG set up.</p>

<p>R Sai Kishore has been one of the best off-spinners in the Indian domestic cricket arena. Kishore has played an important role for Tamil Nadu&#8217;s triumphs in recent years in white-ball cricket. He was part of CSK previously but didn&#8217;t get a single game, however, given his skills, the left-arm spinner was expected to trigger a bidding war.</p>
<p>He was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in 2020. The left-arm spinner attracted bids from various franchises which included RR, CSK, PBKS, SRH, and GT.</p>
<p>After an intense bidding session, he was bought by the new Gujarat Franchise for INR 3.0 Crore, which was 15 times his base price of INR 20 Lakhs.</p>
