IPL 2022: 3 changes RCB should make to get back to winning ways
RCB lost their 1st match of IPL 2022 to PBKS.
In the IPL 2022 auction, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team management did quite well to recruit quality talent like Faf du Plessis, Josh Hazlewood, Dinesh Karthik, and Wanindu Hasaranga to their team, while retaining the services of their key players, Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj.
In their first fixture of the 2022 edition, Faf du Plessis shone bright with the bat, scoring 88 off 57 but could not secure a win on his IPL captaincy debut. The team suffered heartbreak after failing to defend a strong score of 205 runs at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai due to an average performance by the bowling unit.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team management will be considering making some changes in order to open their account in IPL 2022. Also, the unavailability of players like Glenn Maxwell and Josh Hazlewood has hurt their chances. The Aussie duo is expected to be unavailable for the next few matches as well.
3 changes RCB should make to get back to winning ways in IPL 2022
1. Opting for Virat Kohli to open with Faf du Plessis
The RCB team had a slightly quiet start in the powerplay, with Faf du Plessis struggling to get going, and the youngster Anuj Rawat playing out a few dot balls before getting dismissed on 21 off 20 balls. In this aspect, the team management might give Virat Kohli the freedom to express himself, as an opener.
As an opener in the IPL, Kohli has amassed 2750 runs in 76 innings at an average of 43.65, while also hitting five tons and 18 half-centuries. Apparently, he has played at the number three position in 86 innings of the tournament and has a little lower average of 37.49.
Although Kohli remained unbeaten on 41 off 29 balls in the first fixture, the stability and confidence he provides the team as an opener in the powerplay are unmatched. With his extensive experience, Kohli, along with Faf du Plessis, can prove to be a potent opening pair for RCB.
