IPL 2022: 3 players who can replace Shivam Dube in CSK’s playing XI

The second-most successful franchise in the history of IPL, CSK, started the 2022 season with a defeat. Kolkata Knight Riders won the toss and chose to let the Chennai-based franchise bat first. Umesh Yadav dismissed Ruturaj in the first over and CSK kept losing wickets in quick successions since then as Yadav was brilliant with the new ball for KKR.

The former CSK skipper MS Dhoni came to the rescue and they managed to get to a decent, fighting total. Other than MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja played some good shots but none of the other batters got the rhythm. CSK may think of changing their combinations of the playing XI for the next game.

Shivam Dube might have to make way for some other player in CSK’s XI. He scored just three off six balls before getting dismissed by Sunil Narine. Dube bowled one over and got hit for 11 runs. CSK has other good options in their squad and can give chance to any of them.

Here are three players who can replace Shivam Dube in CSK’s XI:

1. Dwaine Pretorius

The handy all-rounder from South Africa can be a fabulous option to have in the middle-order. He will fit perfectly in the place of Shivam Dube. Dwaine Pretorius has been around in international cricket for a while. He has been an impactful performer for the Proteas but is yet to play the IPL.

The multi-dimensional cricketer has played 22 T20Is for South Africa and has scored 170 runs at a strike rate of 161.9. He has also picked 23 wickets at an average of 19.48. Pretorius has maintained an economy rate of 7.77, which is outstanding. He can be a nice addition to the CSK playing XI and he can give the momentum to them that they want.

Due to the restrictions of playing only four overseas players, playing Pretorius will be quite hectic. Someone like Adam Milne can be asked to sit on the bench and KM Asif can be bought. That will allow CSK to give Pretorius a place in their playing 11. He can do the job at No. 6 or 7 as MS Dhoni can come up the order.
