The Australian quick Pat Cummins is one of the greatest in the world right now. The skills he has to produce genuine pace in his game is something that every team wants in a player. He always builds pressure on his opponents by bowling the tightest imaginable lines and lengths. Cummins’ game has never been that of producing big swing, but that too has seen some spike in the past few years.

For his performances and consistency with the Australian team, he was rewarded with the team’s captaincy in the longest format. His first assignment was the Ashes, in which he did a phenomenal job by dominating the series throughout. They won 4-0 against England. This also makes him a prospect for captaincy in the IPL.

Cummins started playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, then moved to Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2017, and then returned to KKR with a staggering price in the auctions in 2020. He was released ahead of the 2022 season. His performance in the tournament has not been great, but his international stats cannot be overlooked. Further, he can be handy with the bat too and provides depth in the batting order by playing at No. 7 or 8.

Here are the teams that might target Pat Cummins in IPL 2022 mega auction:

1. Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians managed to retain only half of their core team. They had to let go of players like Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Quinton de Kock, and Trent Boult due to the limit of players allowed to retain. But, they did retain Jasprit Bumrah who has been their leader in the bowling department for years.

Mumbai Indians usually like to have an overseas quick that can be the face of their bowling attack along with Jasprit Bumrah. Earlier it was Lasith Malinga, then it was Mitchell McClenaghan, and for the last two seasons, it was Trent Boult.

Now with Boult being released, Cummins can very well replace him in the team. He is a player of high caliber, and Mumbai Indias always looks for a player like him in the auctions. They can make huge reservations for him in their budget.
