The three-time finalists had another good season last year as they made it to back-to-back playoffs before their campaign came to an end in the Eliminator yet again. Ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction, RCB were crystal clear of who they were going to retain for the 15th edition and it was a no-brainer when they decided to have batting megastar Virat Kohli on board along with Mohammed Siraj and star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
Kohli had decided to step down from captaincy after the conclusion of the last season and there were reports of Maxwell being appointed as his successor. The Bengaluru-based franchise received a huge setback when ‘Mr.360’ AB de Villiers decided to bid adieu to all forms of the game thus, making himself unavailable for IPL 2022 as a player.
If RCB do get an opportunity to buy Shreyas Iyer in the upcoming IPL 2022 mega auction, they would not only be obliged to bring him on board but also to solve the jigsaw puzzle as far as their captaincy woes are concerned.
