IPL 2022: 5 bowlers who conceded most sixes this season
A total of 1062 sixes were hit this season, the most in the history of the tournament
The Indian Premier League has been a platform that nurtures the players to improve their game and provides them a stage to showcase their talent and excel in the field. Being a T20 competition, the IPL is conceived as a batter-dominated game. Teams have limited overs to score runs, and thus they look to collect as many runs as possible within the 20-over duration.
IPL recently completed its 15th edition and found a new winner after five years in the form of Gujarat Titans as Hardik Pandya led the debutant team to their maiden IPL title in their first-ever outing, becoming just the second skipper to do so after the legendary Shane Warne, who led the Rajasthan Royals to their title in 2008.
The bowlers tried their best to restrict the batters from scoring runs, but some bowlers ended up conceding a lot of runs. Hitting boundaries is an achievement for the batter, but it becomes a nightmare for the bowler. As another edition of the IPL has concluded, let us have a look at five bowlers who conceded the most sixes this season.
5. Kuldeep Yadav – 22
The Delhi Capitals spinner was hit for 22 sixes in the 14 games that the franchise played in the league stage. Kuldeep Yadav conceded a total of 419 runs, of which 132 were given away through maximums. Kuldeep made a stunning comeback this season with a new franchise, after not getting enough chances with his previous team Kolkata Knight Riders.
Playing for DC, Yadav looked like he was on a mission to prove his worth. He was named the Player of the Match not just once, but four times throughout the season, for his consistent performances with the ball. He was seen bowling more freely than he used to at KKR and embarked on a new journey with the franchise.
Yadav was Rishabh Pant’s one of the go-to bowlers. As a result of his amazing show, he was named in India’s T20I squad for the upcoming home series against South Africa which is set to begin on June 9. He will now look to continue his good form donning the blues and would try not to concede many sixes.
