5. Obed McCoy’s no ball against Delhi Capitals
Rajasthan Royals are riding in high spirits after their consecutive wins against two of the strong teams of IPL 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The heavenly form of Jos Buttler is proving to be extremely fruitful for them. However, in their match against the Capitals, the umpires gave yet another contentious decision.
In the match, Delhi’s Rovman Powell faced a contentious decision from the umpires in the very last over of the match. With 36 runs required off the last over, the West Indian had struck three sixes off the first three deliveries. However, the third ball was a beamer from Rajasthan’s pacer Obed McCoy. It seemed a no-ball to many as it was clearly above the waist height. However, the umpires were not convinced enough to declare it a no-ball, leaving the Delhi Capitals squad quite disappointed.
The frustration was visible on the faces of Delhi Capitals’ players as well as their captain Rishabh Pant, who ragingly called out to his batsmen from the dug-out to return to the pavilion. This decision sparked many controversies over social media. The behaviour of Pant also sparked controversies. The Capitals captain was fined 100% of the match fee for his disrespectful behaviour.
