An epitome of the rags to riches story, the 34-year-old pacer has come a long way. Regarded as one of the most sought after young bowlers in 2010, the Delhi Daredevils bagged Umesh Yadav’s services, for whom he went on to play the next three seasons. He has been an efficient bowler for the three teams he has played for – DD (now DC), KKR and RCB. Incapable of being the deadly bowler he once was, has put him out of the contention for the seamers’ spot in the shorter formats while still being in plans for the Indian Test team.

In his 121 matches at the IPL, the Vidharba fast bowler has been a valuable addition to the sides he represented. Taking 119 wickets, he has placed himself at the 5th rank for the most wickets taken by a pacer in the IPL. Having the ability to pitch unusual bouncers and hit the deck, the phase from 2012-2018 has been fruitful for the seamer with the highest tally of 20 wickets in the 2018 season for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Umesh Yadav may be a little hot and cold in recent times, but his experience can do wonders to the franchises who will look to build a squad around the youth for the coming years. Not being selected for even a single match in the prior season may be played against him at the auction as he has set a base price of INR 2 Cr for himself. Therefore, he features on the list of Indian players who have set their base price too high.
