In the T20 format, a batter needs to have the skill, intelligence, and also power to take the team home. On a big ground, the team needs an individual who can clear the fence easily and provide acceleration at the right point in time. Although the thick willow helps to hit a maximum, it is the intent or strength of a player which decides the magnitude of such sixes.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 also witnessed quality batters pouncing on the ball and sending them to the night sky, which brings the crowd and team into jubilation. Although the competitiveness of the season was quite high, some cricketers played their natural game to strike the balls and scored runs at a brisk pace. All players who hit the five longest sixes this season are overseas cricketers, who were in the top form and were the key contributors to their respective teams.
Meanwhile, let’s look at the five longest sixes of IPL 2022
5. Nicholas Pooran (SRH)- 108 meter
The newly appointed West Indies white-ball captain Nicholas Pooran had a disastrous 2021 season with only 85 runs at a mere average of 7.72. However, his performances in the international series against England helped him to get picked up by SRH for the 2022 season.
Ahead of this season he was impressive for the Caribbean team against India and attained a good knowledge about the pitches. Rightfully, he spent enough time in the middle for Sunrisers and was consistent enough to score over 300 runs at an average of 38.25.
In Match 50 of this season between Sunrisers and Capitals, Pooran scored 62 of 34 balls comprising two fours and six sixes. One of his sixes was on a full-toss ball off Anrich Nortje, which went for 108 m towards the deep mid-wicket area.
