IPL 2022: 5 moves that paid off for Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals have been impressive right from the start of IPL 2022.
After a victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Rajasthan Royals have made it to the final of the tournament for the second time in history. They managed to win the inaugural edition in 2008 under Shane Warne and the fans have had to wait for a long time to see the franchise back in the final again.
Sanju Samson has been quite good with his field placements and RR have one of the best spin bowling combinations of Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, while the youngsters in the batting order have stepped up as well. However, Jos Buttler was always their most prized asset as he amassed 824 runs in 16 games at an average of 58.85 and has scored four centuries already. The English lad has contributed immensely at the top of the order and he will yet again be a great threat for the opponents Gujarat Titans in the finals on May 29.
Here are five moves that paid off for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022:
1. Obed McCoy for death overs
Obed McCoy was an in-and-out player for the Rajasthan Royals this season, but he managed to win a game on his own in the earlier part of the tournament but conceded plenty of runs, which saw him getting dropped from the playing XI. The West Indies pacer looked like he was no longer in the plans of the Royals until the last two league games where he was brought back into the XI.
The left-arm seamer was impressive with a couple of good games and bowled well in the knockout fixture against RCB where he finished with 3 for 23. He has been backed by the franchise in the death overs to do the job and it has paid off really well in the last few games for RR.
