Out of all the IPL auctions so far, all-rounders have bagged the most expensive buys 11 times. This league values all-rounders more than the one-dimensional cricketers and it is evident from the auction stats. Many all-rounders who were released by the teams are in contention for the upcoming mega-auction and some would go for a huge price.

5. Sam Curran

Sam Curran, the young English all-rounder, stepped into this league for the first time in 2019 with a huge salary of Rs 7.20 crore. He played nine matches for Kings XI Punjab and his hat-trick and a half-century made him recognised as an all-rounder.

In the 2020’s auction, he was snatched by Chennai Super Kings for a price of Rs 5.5 crore. CSK had an unusual rough patch in 2020, and Curran was the one of the very few shining star of the squad. In a match against Mumbai Indians in 2020, he scored 52 off 47 deliveries which proved his ability to anchor the innings apart from his explosive batting.

The 23-year-old all-rounder, in 32 matches in the IPL, has scored 337 runs with a blistering strike rate of 149.77 and has grabbed 32 wickets. He is a bowler who can swing the new ball well, execute accurate yorkers, and can hit the balls out of the ropes with ease. Considering his previous auction prices and his recent performances, he will earn huge in this auction too.
