The Delhi Capitals put together a strong team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Auction. Along with the retentions of their key performers, they bought quality players, who got all their bases covered. The key overseas picks by the team were David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Mustafizur Rahman, and Rovman Powell.

In the latest news development, the Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh sustained a hip flexor injury during the practice session ahead of the ODI series against Pakistan. He is expected to be unavailable for the whole series, and there are doubts about his participation in the Indian Premier League 2022 edition as well.

In the IPL 2020, Marsh could only feature in a single fixture for Sunrisers, before sustaining an ankle injury while he cited a reason of bubble fatigue in the 2021 season to pull out of the tournament. If he is ruled out of the entire season, Delhi Capitals will have to search for an alternative overseas player, who went unsold in the 2022 mega auction or have been quality performers in the T20 format.

Here are 5 Players Who can Replace Mitchell Marsh at DC:

1. Ben McDermott

Ben McDermott has been one of the finest performers in the Big Bash League for the last 2 years. He returned as Hobart Hurricanes’s top run-getter in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 editions, with 402 and 577 runs respectively. The performances in the 2021/22 season helped the Hurricanes team to seal the playoffs spot as well.

The rock-solid performances have earned McDermott a regular place in the Australian limited-overs team. In the recent 2022 T20I series against Sri Lanka, he garnered 93 runs in 5 innings, while hitting a half-century in one of the fixtures.

In the IPL 2022 Auction, Ben McDermott went unsold with his base price of 50 Lakhs. His experience, track record, and current form in the T20s are expected to be favouring him for a spot in the Delhi Capitals team.
