IPL 2022: 5 players who might go unsold in the mega auction
The mega auctions will take place next year.
2. Riley Meredith
The Australian pacer made heads turn when he was snapped up for PBKS for a whopping 8 crores in the auction. PBKS head coach Anil Kumble was extremely happy to have got the speedster in the team. Meredith was purchased by the franchise because of his express pace. He also made an impression for Hobart Hurricanes during the BBL last year.
The script though changed in the IPL as he failed to get going as picked only four wickets in the five IPL games in the India leg. His economy rate too was on the higher side as he gave 9.94 runs per over. The pacer also didn’t return to the UAE leg of the IPL. Meredith got only five games, and few experts and fans might feel that is too little a chance to determine his ability as a fast bowler.
Also, with new talents like Umran Malik, Lockie Ferguson and Marco Jensen emerging, the franchises might be interested in buying them due to their recent form during this year’s IPL.
