5. Chetan Sakariya
Sadly in IPL 2022, Chetan Sakariya just played three games for DC. The youngster throughout the tournament was found deputy to pacer Khaleel Ahmed. It was only when Khaleel got injury, Sakariya received his opportunity. Comprehensively from his three appearances, the left-arm pacer scalped three wickets at an economy of 7.64.
However, the DC management should have persisted with the 24-year old a lot more. Especially as both Anrich Nortje and Shardul Thakur had average seasons. Sakariya could have been their frontline defensive bowler. More importantly even Khaleel was known to leak runs at the death overs.
Overall, for Delhi, both their premier pacers- Nortje and Thakur leaked runs at an economy of over 9. Whereas if Sakariya would have played then even the conditions during the second half would have assisted his bowling. Conclusively, the seamer could have been much more fruitful in the crucial encounters.
