3. The presence of a proper finisher

Over the years, RCB have relied on multiple players, who would finish the match in convincing style. However, they lacked a quality finisher, who can do it game after game. In Dinesh Karthik, they have found an able finisher, who comes in with abundant experience and has batted in these situations multiple times. His heroics against Bangladesh in the finals of the Nidahas Trophy back in 2018 is still fresh.

The 36-year-old Karthik has already justified his selection with a couple of short cameos, coming in mostly at No.6 and 7. The veteran Tamil Nadu cricketer has scored 97 runs at a strike rate of 210.86 in four games so far and is yet to get out in IPL 2022. His 23-ball 44 against Rajasthan Royals guided RCB to a scintillating victory from a steep position. Karthik took calculated risks and targetted his bowlers to chase down 170 runs with five balls to spare.

If he can maintain consistency throughout IPL 2022, it will be a massive boost for the Royal Challengers as they chase their maiden title.
