All the existing eight franchises announced their retained players for the upcoming seasons. A few retentions by the teams were pretty obvious while a few raised many eyebrows. There were quite a few players who were expected to be retained but did not make it to the list.

With the retention and released list of players are out, the excitement of the mega auction has already reached a crescendo. Considering the list of the released players, along with some star batters and bowlers, there are also exciting wicket-keepers that will be up for grabs in the mega auction.

Currently, Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, and Rajasthan Royals are the franchises that have their prime keepers in the setup. Whereas the other franchises will be raring to include the best keeper-batter in their side. Though most of the time, the batters and bowlers grab all the limelight in the game, the wicket-keepers also have a greater role to play as their job is tedious too.

Here are the top 5 released wicketkeepers who can get big bucks in the IPL 2022 auction

1. Ishan Kishan

As the franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of four players, Mumbai Indians went for Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard. Thus, keeper-batter Ishan Kishan was released by the side. However, Kishan was instrumental for MI over the years.

From the 45 IPL matches he has played so far, he has chipped in with 1133 runs which include as many as eight half-centuries at an average of 32. Owing to his consistent performances in the high-profile event, Kishan also received his India call-up. On his T20I debut against England at home, he displayed his flair by hitting a half-century.

He thus became only the second Indian batter to hit a half-century on debut. The flamboyant wicket-keeper batter is known for his distinct style of batting. He plays fearless cricket and can be a great asset for any team he is in. Kishan is also pretty decent behind the wickets and it is a no-brainer that the franchises will look to get him in their squad.
