The IPL 2022 auction is around the corner and all the 10 teams have announced their retained/picked players well in advance. While some of the cricketers have impressed the franchises with their consistent performances in the season gone by, there have been a few of them who are retained for the value that their presence brings to the team.

At the same time, a few of the retained players could have fetched some more prize money had they been released by their respective teams as their competitors would not have hesitated in bringing them on board by spending a huge amount. So, let’s find out the players who could have earned more in IPL 2022 had they gone under the hammer in the next week’s mega auction.

5 Players who could’ve earned more in IPL 2022 mega auction

1. Venkatesh Iyer

Venkatesh Iyer made his presence felt during the second leg of the IPL 2021 season in the UAE. He stunned the opposition teams with his power-hitting abilities opening the innings for Kolkata Knight Riders. Iyer finished with 370 runs from 10 matches along with three scalps as KKR made the finals only to go down to CSK.

While the franchise did release most of their players, they showed faith in the southpaw and retained him for a sum of INR 8 crore which is almost a mammoth 400% hike from what he had earned in the previous edition which was INR 20 lakh.

Had the Madhya Pradesh cricketer been released, he would have certainly fetched a higher bid than what he is getting now considering that the teams were impressed with his all-round abilities on the cricket field.
