2. Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad was the silver lining in the dark cloud for the Chennai Super Kings in his debut season in 2020 where he had finished with 204 runs from the six games. He didn’t impress to start with but ended the 2020 edition with consecutive Player of the Match performances. And he continued his run in the 2021 season and went on to win the Orange Cap having amassed 635 runs from all the 16 matches.
The opener was retained by the defending champions for a sum of INR 6 crore which is a significant hike from the 2021 edition where he was offered INR 20 lakh. Ruturaj’s good show also earned him a place in the Indian team and is set to make regular appearances at the top of the order in the near future.
The Maharashtra cricketer could, by all means, have got more money had the four-time champions decided to part ways with him as a few teams are eyeing to have a permanent opening batter.
