3. Venkatesh Iyer (KKR)
Having burst onto the scene in the last season, Venkatesh Iyer seemed to be the fast bowling allrounder who was also a proper top-order batsman that India had been desperately clamoring for.
With Hardik Pandya unfit and underutilized as a bowler, Iyer was touted as a mainstay in India’s limited-overs setup and KKR recognized this hype, making him one of their four big-name retentions for IPL 2022.
However, Iyer has failed to do any justice to his talents and capabilities and hasn’t been able to make much impact with either bat or ball. Originally an opener, Iyer was then demoted to 6 and then dropped completely as his performances weren’t getting any better.
