IPL 2022: Ambati Rayudu sensationally dives full length to his right to pluck a brilliant catch vs RCB

The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) finally arrived in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Their batting clicked against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thanks to Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube slamming 88 and 95* runs respectively. Their knocks helped CSK post a mammoth total of 216 runs on the board. If their batting effort was top notch on the day, the fielding was also excellent with Ambati Rayudu making a stunning effort to take a catch.

It happened in the 16th over of RCB’s chase when Ravindra Jadeja was bowling. The left-arm spinner had already dismissed Wanindu Hasaranga and RCB were under pressure. But off the fourth ball of the over, things worsened for the Faf du Plessis-led side as Akash Deep also got out, not because of Jadeja’s excellence but it was due to Rayudu setting the stage on fire with his fielding.

Jadeja delivered a short of a good length ball that stopped a bit into the pitch and the batter played the ball early on the up showing full bat face. The ball was traveling through short cover area where Ambati Rayudu was stationed and he sensationally dived full length to his right to pluck it out of thin air with his right hand. It was a brilliant catch from the Hyderabad cricketer and he managed to hold on to the catch despite falling strongly on the ground. RCB were in the chase until that over and the double-wicket over from Ravindra Jadeja almost ended their hopes.

CSK win their 1st game of the season

Dinesh Karthik threatened for some time then smashing 34 off just 14 balls with two fours and three sixes but it was too much of a task for him in the end. CSK finally managed to get their first points on the board in IPL 2022 in their fifth game with a 23-run win and it remains to be seen if they can carry the winning momentum in the near future.
