Punjab Kings (PBKS) left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was excellent in his previous IPL group stage encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 25 (Monday). The left-arm pacer apart from taking the wicket of New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner bowled some excellent overs during the later part of the CSK chase.

However, Arshdeep’s celebration after scalping the wicket of the Kiwi All-rounder Mitchell Santner is being widely shared on social media. To note, Arshdeep castled Santner uprooting his leg-stump, after the batter decided to shuffle across the line towards the off-stump. The wicket brought a big smile to Arshdeep’s face as he did a ‘chariot riding’ celebration. It was a crucial wicket for Punjab Kings as Santner has the capability to hit some lusty blows.

Here’s the video:

Talking about Arshdeep numbers in IPL, the 23-year-old has played 31 matches and has scalped a total of 33 wickets. He has an average of 26.58 and bowls at an economy of 8.58. The left-arm pacer also has a five-wicket haul under his belt.

Arshdeep bowled an excellent spell of 1/23 in his four overs

Coming back to the match, CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja won the toss and opted to have a field first. Captain Mayank Agarwal (18 off 21 balls) and Shikhar Dhawan (88* off 59 balls) provided a solid but slow start to their side. After the fall of Mayank, Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa (42 off 32 balls) and Dhawan stitched an excellent 110-run stand before Rajapaksa got out. Both England batters Liam Livingstone and Jonny Bairstow along with Dhawan provided a decent finish to their team as PBKS ended on 187/4 in their 20 overs.

In reply, CSK batters Robin Uthappa (1 off 7 balls), Santner (9 off 15 balls), and Shivam Dube (8 off 7 balls) failed to provide contributions with the bat. However, opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ambati Rayudu kept CSK in the game. Gaikwad went back after scoring 30 off 27 balls. Ambati Rayudu (78 off 39 balls) was a lone performer for the Yellow Army.

However, Kagiso Rabada and Arshdeep Singh were outstanding as they bowled some tight lines during the death overs with the latter registering impressive figures of 1/23 in his four overs. All-rounder Rishi Dhawan was given the task of defending 27 runs in the last over and he managed to stop the CSK innings at 176/6 in their 20 overs.
