IPL 2022: Ayush Badoni's six hits female spectator during CSK vs LSG clash
Even though the ball hit the spectator, she seemed to be fine.
A spectator in the crowd was injured by a six hit by young batter Ayush Badoni while Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were chasing a target of 211 runs set by Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In match six of the Indian Premier League (IPL), LSG managed to pip the defending champions with three balls to spare.
Needing 34 runs in the last two overs, skipper Ravindra Jadeja gave the ball to medium-pacer Shivam Dube. Sensing an opportunity to make full use of that over, Badoni was sitting deep inside the crease. As Dube bowled a short of a length delivery, Badoni swiped the ball hard towards deep square leg and it went on to hit a lady in the stands.
Even though the ball hit the spectator, she seemed to be fine. Meanwhile, both Badoni and player of the match Evin Lewis (55* off 23 balls) took full toll of the over and scored 25 runs.
Shivam Dube gave away 25 runs in the penultimate over
With only nine runs required in the final over, Badoni hit the first legitimate ball of the last over for a six, and then one ball later took a single as the new entrants secured a resounding victory over the defending champions. Skipper KL Rahul (40 off 26 balls) and Quinton de Kock (61 of 45 balls) also played crucial roles to chase down the big target.
Earlier in the match, skipper KL Rahul, after winning the toss, invited CSK to bat and the Men in Yellow came down all guns blazing. Some valuable contributions from Robin Uthappa (50 off 27 balls), Moeen Ali (35 off 22 balls), Shivam Dube (49 off 30 balls) and Ambati Rayudu (27 off 20 balls) helped them set a good base for the end. Skipper Ravindra Jadeja (17 off 9) and former captain MS Dhoni (16* off 6 balls) gave an excellent finish to their side with CSK making 210/7 in their 20 overs.
