IPL 2022: BCCI lays down bubble rules ahead of tournament, breaches to be treated seriously

The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on 26th March 2022. And, ahead of the tournament, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clearly laid down the protocols for the tournament.
The BCCI has also stated that if any family member of the player or a match official breaches the protocols, they will have to face severe consequences. The board has stated that Covid-19 is posing a serious threat to the health of people, and everyone should adhere to the rules and regulations that are put in place for the tournament.
“The COVID-19 pandemic poses a serious threat to the health of individuals and the cooperation, commitment and adherence by each Person Subject To These Operational Rules to the measure put in place to provide a safe environment is of paramount importance,” said the BCCI according to Cricbuzz.
What will happen if there is a breach in these rules for the IPL?
The BCCI has also gone ahead and clearly mentioned what will happen if the rules are not adhered to. For the first offence, a player will have to once again go into a seven-day quarantine period, and will not be paid for the matches he has missed.
For the second offence, the player will be suspended for a match, and he will not receive any salary for the match that he has missed. And, if the offence is committed for the third time, then the player will be removed from the squad and the franchise cannot ask for a replacement.
The BCCI also stated that if any IPL franchise is not able to assemble a minimum of 12 players ahead of an IPL match, then the match for the franchise will be rescheduled based on the discretion of the IPL Technical Committee. The opening match of the 2022 edition of the IPL will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and two-time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
