Riley Meredith went for a hefty amount at auction last year for the Punjab Kings but failed to impress. This year though, he represents the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise and has managed to make an impact in the limited opportunities he has received so far.

He was mighty impressive in the game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) as he returned with figures of 2-24 from his quota of four overs. He restricted the RR batsmen at the death by picking up the wickets of Riyan Parag and the dangerous-looking R Ashwin. Mumbai Indians went on to win their first game of the tournament and Meredith played a crucial part in that game.

Meredith is still a newbie as far as IPL is concerned, but MI can look at him and expect bigger things. Under the tutelage of Bumrah, Meredith can be a potent force with the ball, and with Archer set to join MI next year, we can already start to hype MI’s pace attack for the next few seasons.
