Gujarat Titans managed to create history by winning their maiden IPL trophy playing some fantastic cricket throughout the season. After the mega auction, not many experts had rated their team to be among the top contenders for the title, but they managed to overcome all odds and proved to be an inspiration for all the franchises.  Gujarat Titans finished at the top of the points table after the league stages with 10 wins in 14 games, and they went on to win Qualifier 1 against the Royals. The Hardik Pandya-led side won the finals comfortably as well, by beating the same side in the finals. The likes of Pandya, David Miller, Rashid Khan, and Mohammed Shami, were all among the consistent performers for the side, while other youngsters stepped up as well. Each of the players from all the franchises had stepped up in crucial times, and a lot of match-winners evolved as well in IPL 2022. We look into the combined best XI from the other nine franchises that can beat Gujarat Titans.

Best XI that can beat the champions Gujarat Titans:

1. KL Rahul

KL Rahul turned up with yet another brilliant season for the new franchise <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-3-players-lsg-are-likely-to-release-ahead-of-next-season/">Lucknow Super Giants</a>, and he managed to repay the faith with his captaincy as well. The right-hander was in exquisite form throughout the season although he got some first-ballers as well. However, he kept piling up runs on his day, which helped him to collect a huge tally in the end. Rahul ended up with 616 runs in 15 games at an average of 51.33 and a strike rate of 135.38. The 30-year-old notched up two centuries and four half-centuries throughout the tournament and was happy to take the innings deep, rather than getting dismissed after a good start to the inning. Rahul can bat with two gears based on the situation, and he definitely has the goods to make it up, even if he takes the time initially. A 14-ball half-century in IPL 2018 was a testimony of his destructiveness and he will have the perfect partner in Jos Buttler as well.

2. Jos Buttler

The batter of the tournament this year had to be Jos Buttler, as he made a merry of the bowling attacks and almost hit centuries for fun. The Englishman was retained by the Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction this year, and he proved high time that he is more than just a match-winner. The right-hander had a terrific start to the tournament and was looking like <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/virat-kohli-must-be-wondering-i-used-to-dominate-but-now-get-out-whenever-ball-touches-bat-rp-singh/">Virat Kohli</a>&#8216;s 973 run record was under threat, going with the pace Buttler was playing. Despite a stunning start to the tournament, Buttler entered a tough phase, where he wasn&#8217;t among the runs for around five games and it ensured that Buttler was not going to break Kohli&#8217;s record. However, towards the end of the tournament, Buttler seemed to have got his golden touch and he produced some breath-taking innings to help RR reach the finals. He finished with 863 runs in 17 games at an average of 57.53 and a strike rate of 149.05. He scored four centuries and four half-centuries and bagged the Orange Cap as well.

3. Rahul Tripathi

Rahul Tripathi had a good season for Kolkata Knight Riders last year at number three and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-3-players-srh-are-likely-to-release-ahead-of-next-season/">Sunrisers Hyderabad</a> was quite happy to invest in him in this year&#8217;s auction. He was up to the task straight away and enjoyed his role of number three throughout the season, with some quickfire innings. Tripathi finished with 413 runs in 14 innings at an average of 37.55 and his runs came very quickly as well, at an incredible strike rate of 158.23. He scored three half-centuries in the season, with the highest score of 76, and remained a vital cog in the batting lineup for the franchise. Tripathi&#8217;s good knock had impressed a lot of experts as well, and there was a lot of talk about him earning his maiden call up to the Indian side. There haven&#8217;t been any doubts over his potential and he is one of the safest fielders in the house as well. He has adapted to the number three role better than most batters and it shows his versatility as well.

4. Sanju Samson (c and wk)

Sanju Samson had an excellent IPL 2022 in just his second season as captain of <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/3-players-rr-will-release-ahead-of-ipl-2023/">Rajasthan Royals</a>, and he got them to the finals with some good moves. He used his bowling options quite wisely and was spot on in his field placements as well, with the guidance from Kumar Sangakkara in the dugout. Apart from his wicket-keeping skills, Samson made some decent contributions with the bat, but his strike rate was the key factor that made him a lot more potent. The right-hander amassed 458 runs in 17 games at an average of 28.63 and a strike rate of 146.79 and scored two half-centuries in the tournament. Samson has the ability to play big innings, and he can be one of the brutal hitters of the cricket ball on his day, given his gift of timing. His leadership skills this season make him the first choice captain of the side and he can play the role of a wicketkeeper as well, alongside batting at number four.

5. Liam Livingstone

Liam Livingstone broke the shackles with some humongous hits and it turned out to be a breakthrough season for the Englishman in the IPL this year. He was acquired for big bucks by the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-3-players-who-were-underutilized-by-punjab-kings/">Punjab Kings</a> in the IPL 2022 mega auction and he delivered beyond expectations. Livingstone batted at the number four position for the Punjab Kings and he took the bowlers to cleaners, with some clinical six-hitting. In fact, he hit the longest six of the season with a 117-meter maximum and announced his arrival in IPL with a bang, considering his previous seasons were not as productive. Livingstone finished with 437 runs in 14 games at an average of 36.42 and a strike rate of 182.08. The right-hander hit four half-centuries this season with the highest score of 70 and picked up wickets with the ball consistently as well. Currently, he should be ranked among the most destructive batters around the world going with his form and skills.

6. Andre Russell

Andre Russell was the only limelight this season for the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/3-players-kkr-likely-to-release-ahead-of-ipl-2023/">Kolkata Knight Riders</a> as the franchise never looked like settling with a team until the final hours. The West Indian however, was quite consistent throughout the tournament, and no wonder, he was retained by KKR ahead of the mega auction with no second thoughts. The 34-year-old finished with 335 runs in 14 innings in the tournament this season at an average of 37.22 and a strike rate of 174.47. He scored one half-century with the highest score of unbeaten 70 and managed to win games with both bat and ball. Russell picked up 17 wickets in 14 games at an average of 16.35 with the best figures of 4 for 5. Russell has proved time to again that he is among the best all-rounders going around in T20 format, and he can provide some brutal hitting towards the back end as well. He has a big role to play in the upcoming years for KKR and he will perfectly slot in at six in this side given his prowess with both bat and ball.

7. Wanindu Hasaranga

Wanindu Hasaranga in just his second season in IPL proved to be a match-winner for the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-7-major-records-rcb-team-holds-without-winning-the-trophy/">Royal Challengers Bangalore</a> and picked up heaps of wickets as well. The Sri Lankan spinner was brought in the mega auction for a hefty price and he managed to do justice to his selection. Hasaranga ended up as the second-highest wicket-taker in the season with 26 wickets to his name in 16 games and was just one short of winning the purple cap. He picked up wickets at an average of 16.53 and an economy rate of 7.54. A five-wicket-haul also came his way in the season. Hasaranga is actually, quite handy with the bat down the order as well. However, he could not have an impact with the bat this IPL. He can definitely bat at number seven and can hit some lusty blows towards the back end of the innings. Hasaranga&#8217;s battle against Deepak Hooda in the Eliminator was one of the most fascinating encounters in IPL 2022.

8. Arshdeep Singh

Left-arm quick Arshdeep Singh was one of the unsung heroes in the IPL 2022. However, he managed to earn his maiden call up to the Indian side on the back of his superlative bowling. A lot of eyebrows were raised when the left-arm seamer was retained by Punjab Kings, ahead of the IPL 2022 auction, but he proved them wrong. Arshdeep was among the wickets in the previous edition constantly, however, it wasn&#8217;t the case this time and he was more of a death overs bowler. In fact, he managed to bowl the tough overs for the Punjab Kings and put his hands up for the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/will-take-the-lessons-pbks-skipper-mayank-agarwal-vows-to-make-strong-comeback-after-dismal-campaign/">skipper</a>, whenever the going got tough. Arshdeep finished with 10 wickets in 14 games this season at an average of 38.50. However, the impressive part was his economy rate of 7.70 throughout the season. He kept nailing his yorkers at the back end and used his left arm angle to cramp the batter for the room as well.

9. Mohsin Khan

Mohsin Khan was definitely another find of the season despite some strong contenders and he is expected to be in the Indian colors soon with his exceptional talent. The left-arm quick was brought into the XI after a few games into the tournament and he impressed straight away with his pace and lengths. Importantly, Mohsin was so good with the new ball that he finished with 14 wickets in just 9 games, picking up some of the biggest names in international cricket. He had an outstanding economy rate of 5.96, despite bowling the tough overs for Lucknow Super Giants, and his best figures in the season were 4 for 16. More than the stats, Mohsin had a calm and steady approach that allowed him to bowl at a good pace and keep hitting the right lengths. He can be a great option for India in the future, given his left-handedness and also with his height, he can generate the extra bounce to trouble the batters.

10. Umran Malik

Umran Malik won the &#8220;Emerging Player of the Season&#8221; award and his pace was one of the most fascinating things about the IPL 2022 season. The speedster from Jammu and Kashmir clocked the fastest delivery by an Indian pacer in IPL history and is just behind Shaun Tait and <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/gt-vs-rr-final-lockie-ferguson-bowls-fastest-delivery-of-ipl-2022-clocks-157-3-kmph/">Lockie Ferguson</a> for the fastest delivery ever bowled in the IPL. Malik was consistently among the wickets column this season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad and finished with 22 wickets in 14 games at an average of 20.18. He picked up a five-wicket haul this season with the best figures of 5 for 25 and was quite effective in the middle overs for the franchise. Malik has been seen as the future of the Indian side and recently was picked up for the South Africa series as well. The right-arm quick has got the raw pace and he will be a wicket-taking option in the middle overs. He nailed his yorkers as well and the batters did find it tough, to face him.

11. Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal finished as the leading wicket-taker this season and played a crucial role in getting his franchise, Rajasthan Royals, to the finals of the edition. The leg spinner was brilliant with his loopy outside the stumps, flighted deliveries, and deceived a lot of batters as well. Chahal finished with 27 wickets in 17 games at an average of 19.51, and an economy rate of 7.75. He picked up a hattrick against the Kolkata Knight Riders and had the best figures of 5 for 40 in the IPL 2022 season. He bagged the Purple Cap and it was one of the most productive seasons for the leggie. Chahal was one of the vital cogs in the bowling lineup and his partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin had strangled batters in the middle overs. He was always up for the battle against some of the big names and cherished the challenges as well.
