The just-concluded IPL 2022 mega auction saw all the teams make some great purchases after an intense bidding war with their rivals. All the participating franchises have finally rebuilt their squads for the upcoming edition of the marquee tournament which is expected to get underway on March 27 and among them are the defending champions Chennai Super Kings who not only retained some of their older players but also welcomed some new ones as well.

CSK would be defending their title in over a month’s time and it seems that they have the right balance of youth and experience heading into the 2022 edition of the cash-rich event. While the Yellow Army would certainly be one of the favorites this season, an international cricket board has also gone on to say that the MS Dhoni-led side are the strongest as well as they eye a record-equaling fifth IPL crown this time around.

ECB name their favourite pick after mega auction

It so happened that a passionate cricket fan had asked the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) on social media who they reckoned has the strongest roster following the two-day event in Bengaluru to which England Cricket replied by saying that it has to be CSK.

The four-time champions do have a few England players in their squad including the likes of all-rounders Moeen Ali and Chris Jordan. In fact, Ali was one of their retentions when the title-holders had finalized the names on November 30, 2021, which also included the likes of skipper MS Dhoni, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and last edition’s Orange Cap winner Ruturaj Gaikwad respectively.

At the IPL 2022 mega auction, the Chennai Super Kings focused on getting back their core side. The reigning champions bought back the likes of Dwayne Bravo, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, and Deepak Chahar.

Apart from that, CSK also bought overseas recruits Devon Conway, Dwaine Pretorius, and Maheesh Theekshana. CSK also strengthened their pace department by roping in New Zealand speedster Adam Milne. They could not retain Faf du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood who have gone to RCB and Suresh Raina who found no takers this season.
