The Indian Premier League (IPL) is arguably the most competitive T20 league out there. Only a handful of players get an opportunity to showcase their talent in this cash-rich league. The 15th edition of IPL promised to be a bigger and better affair, given the addition of two new franchises. And, it did not fail to live up to its expectations.

We are done with the league phase of IPL 2022 and fans have witnessed certain memorable moments throughout the season. Several players may feel hard done by, as they spent the majority of the season warming benches. This is particularly true for overseas players, as only a maximum of four overseas players are allowed in the playing 11. On the other hand, there are a few players who just did not fit into the dynamic of the franchise and could have earned more chances playing for other teams.

Here are five benched players of IPL 2022 who could have gotten more chances with other teams.

1. Evin Lewis

Former Mumbai Indians batter, Evin Lewis was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL Mega Auction. The West Indian would have no chance of batting at the top of the order, given that Lucknow had the likes of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock to open the innings. The left-handed batter could count himself unlucky, given the limited amount of chances he was presented in IPL 2022.

Evin Lewis has played in just five games in the league stages, coming out to bat on four occasions. The southpaw’s unbeaten knock of 55 runs against Chennai Super Kings proved to be the difference maker in a mega chase of over 200 runs. Although, he has managed to score a combined of 16 runs in the other three innings, yet Evin Lewis could have earned a few more chances with other franchises.

Evin Lewis has the potential to win games for his side, almost single-handedly when he is on song. The former Mumbai Indians batter could have maybe been a regular starter, if he was picked up by Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
