However, in response, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/csk-vs-kkr-head-to-head-record-in-ipl-history/">KKR</a> got across the line with three balls to spare. Much like Saha’s explosive innings, the Purple Army had Manish Pandey to seal the deal. Eventually, the Knight Riders lifted their second IPL title in 2014.

<h3>3. Yusuf Pathan &#8211; 100 vs MI</h3>

Around the 2010s, Yusuf Pathan was a scorching force. The cricketer, in his first two IPL seasons, had established himself prominently. In fact, the batter had emerged as a vital pillar for the Rajasthan Royals (RR). In the 2010 season, Yusuf had scored at a strike rate of 165.67.
However, in his very first game against the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-suryakumar-yadav-likely-to-miss-mumbai-indians-opening-fixture-against-delhi-capitals/">Mumbai Indian (MI)</a> that season, the all-rounder produced the fastest century of the tournament at the time. To date, after Chris Gayle’s unbeaten 175, this hundred against MI is the second-fastest. While chasing a massive 213-run total, the behemoth took just 37 balls to register the three-digit score (100).
Had Yusuf received adequate support, RR would have triumphed. In their response to MI, the Royals lost four wickets for 66 runs. Needing 147 runs from 64 balls meant that Pathan had to score quickly. In his pursuit, Yusuf took the spinners to the cleaners and whacked eight sixes and nine fours.
Unfortunately, the Pathan show came to an end via a run-out. After his departure, RR lost their way, and the game by just four runs.

<h3>4. Sanju Samson 119 vs PBKS</h3>

This battling knock from Sanju Samson was one of the best of IPL 2021. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Rajasthan Royals were playing their first game of the tournament. After opting to bowl first, PBKS had a brilliant start. At 89/2, skipper KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda joined forces to produce a 105-run stand. With both exhibiting clean hitting, PBKS posted a majestic target of 222.
In response, when <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/knew-rajasthan-royals-will-pick-me-in-ipl-2022-mega-auction-ravi-ashwin/">RR </a>started their innings, both Ben Stokes and Manan Vohra were dismissed cheaply. The dynamic batter, Jos Buttler, was dismissed for 70. With 152 runs more needed to win, Samson stitched two partnerships. Looking to bat till the end, the skipper then exploded in the last few overs.
By single-handedly controlling the chase, Samson scored 36 out of the remainder of 42 runs in just 14 balls. However, he could not see the team home. He was caught out off the last ball with the team needing five runs to win. The centurion (119 off 63 balls) struck seven sixes and 12 fours. Despite the loss, Samson was adjudged the Player of the Match for his stellar innings.

<h3>5. MS Dhoni 84 vs RCB</h3>

From IPL 2017 to IPL 2019, MSD was CSK’s best middle-order batter. Captain Cool used to promote himself to  guide the innings. However, during the clash against RCB in 2019, the skipper had to guide CSK’s struggling run chase almost single-handedly. By making the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bat first, the yellow army restricted the home team to 161. Thanks to wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel’s half-century, Bangalore registered a fighting total. In response, when the Yellow Army came in to bat, their top four batters were dismissed cheaply with just 28 runs on the board.
Looking to rebuild the innings, Dhoni decided to bat deep and stitched a crucial partnership with Ambati Rayudu. Even with the help of the lower middle-order, MSD kept CSK’s chase alive till the last over. Nevertheless, with 26 runs needed off the last over, RCB were favourites to win, with international pacer Umesh Yadav expected to defend.
However, by hitting the first three balls for two sixes and a four, a nail-biting finish was on the cards. With the penultimate delivery going for a maximum, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2022-three-key-player-battles-to-watch-out-for-in-mi-vs-csk/">CSK</a> needed just two runs off the final one.
Nevertheless, RCB&#8217;s meltdown did not cost them the match as MSD missed his cut stroke outside off. The off-cutter from Umesh Yadav produced a dot-ball, as the non-striker was run-out while stealing a single. Overall, it was one of the rarest occasions when MSD remained unbeaten (84* off 48 balls) and CSK lost.
