Another Australian hard-hitting opener, Josh Philippe went unsold in the IPL 2022 mega auction. The 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batter had put himself under the base price of INR one crore. However, none of the ten franchises showed interest in the batter.

The Western Australian batter was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore at his base price of INR 20 lakh ahead of IPL 2020. Philippe was then replaced by New Zealand batter Finn Allen after the former was unavailable for the IPL 2021 season. The right-handed batter has played five games in IPL, scoring just 78 runs at a strike rate of 101.3.

Philippe who has made his name in the Australian domestic circuit has not managed to showcase his true form in international level as well. The 24-year old has represented Australia in ten T20I matches making 138 runs at a poor average of 13.8. However, given this hard-hitting ability, Philippe can be an ideal choice for several franchises looking for wicketkeeper replacement in the tournament.
